About obesity | Mytime Active

'Overweight' and 'obese' are medical terms.

They describe the damaging effects on a person's health of having too much body fat. However, these words can also be used in a negative or insulting way. We know that many overweight or obese people suffer because of other people’s attitudes. They may be bullied at school, or hear negative comments from health professionals.

At Mytime Active, we know it is possible to talk honestly and sensitively about weight, and we train others to do so. Our programmes and services help people look after their bodies by giving them the tools they need to reach a healthier weight. We support them while they learn to get fitter, healthier and happier.

We understand that weight is a very sensitive and personal subject for a person to discuss with their family, their friends or even their doctor. We focus weight discussions on health, not appearance, encouraging our participants to make healthier food choices and spend more time being active.
