The community and partnerships team and Primetime Managager Ann Wilbourn have been working with external partners to understand what provision is needed for children and young people with special educational needs in Bromley.
As a result of this work, a launch event aimed specifically at this target group was held at the Pavilion Leisure Centre.
The event was a huge success, with young people enjoying the newly refurbished Buzz Zone and bowling facilities. Over 170 people attended, including 77 children and young people with special educational needs. The evening created a great opportunity to talk directly to families and listen to the challenges they face when accessing leisure provision.
One parent said:
"Thank you for such a great evening, my son has loved it! I haven’t had to panic about his behaviour and it was so refreshing being able to watch the children socialise in an environment they are comfortable in. Thanks Mytime Active, a brilliant idea and we’d love to come again!"
A new schedule of exclusive activity will be rolled out over the next four months across our Bromley sites. Activities include bowling, soft play, Family Splash / swimming and FootGolf.
We hope these pilot sessions will allow children and young people to enjoy our facilities in a friendly and relaxed space.
