Improving the wellbeing of our customers and the places where they live is at the heart of what we do.

Cobtree Manor Golf Course in Maidstone, Kent, is dedicated to being a dementia friendly venue. General Manager Eleanor Walton is a fully trained Dementia Champion, and her team are all Dementia Friends.

Our first Dementia Golf Day took place on Tuesday 16 May, giving people living with dementia and their carers a fantastic opportunity to enjoy socialising outdoors in lovely surroundings, while taking part in golfing activity.

The day catered for everyone, with nine holes available to play for those with previous golfing experience and putting and chipping lessons for those who hadn’t played before.

Kelly Duke, from the Wrinkly Alliance, said:

"The feedback we have had this end, this week, has been amazing.  We are really stunned about how much everyone had an amazing day.

"We have been told we have got to make it an annual event without it being discussed anywhere.  The guys who came along who live with dementia have not stopped talking about it all week.

"We have had amazing comments from the individuals not living with dementia and it looks as if this is going to develop further.

“Congratulations to everybody who took part and thank you to all those who helped out on the day and made it special.”
