Team Bromley celebrated successes from the 2014 London Youth Games at the Pavilion Leisure Centre on Monday evening with The Mayor of Bromley, Councillor Julian Benington and World Junior Champion Dina Asher-Smith. Over 100 people attended the event and were inspired as Dina, a former Team Bromley competitor, gave her account of what life is like as a world class athlete.
Marg Mayne delivered an uplifting summary of Team Bromley’s achievements from the 2014 Games, recognising many of the highlights from both young people and volunteer team managers. As well as that, Marg spoke of Mytime Active’s commitment to our social objectives and launched a brand new membership initiative allowing a free access to our centres to support with training for all 2015 team members.
The Mayor of Bromley Councillor Julian Benington said, “I am so proud of the successes of our young athletes at the London Youth Games. We have in the borough future world class athletes at all levels and in all sports. Dina Asher-Smith is a fine example of this success after becoming world junior champion in the 100 metres this year. I have really enjoyed meeting some of the Bromley athletes at the Celebration event”.
The cross country competition take places on Saturday 15th November and officially acts as a launch for the start of the 2015 season. Over 80 athletes from Blackheath and Bromley Harriers Athletics Club will compete in Parliament Hill, North London in hope of regaining the gold and silver position from last year.
