Leisurecare offers structured weekly leisure and social activities with a focus on increasing physical activity and an awareness of a healthy lifestyle for adults with learning disabilities with the option of half day, full day or a selected session only.
Activities encourage communication, integration, interaction and fun as well as increasing levels of physical activity. Every member is recognised and respected as an individual and is encouraged and motivated to participate in the activities by our staff and by all who attend the sessions.
The activities offered are fully inclusive - from swim, gym, dance, bowling, sports, games, golf, to social activities such as quizzes, board games and arts and crafts.
For those members who stay all day a hot buffet lunch is served from our café on site, with tea and coffee also available in the morning break. These sociable times are a great opportunity to increase communication and integration of staff, carers and our members.
Before the group starts, our team will discuss the needs of the participant. Our participants have varied needs - some are escorted to and from our venues, others need a carer with them for the duration of the session and some members are independent to come and go as they please.
Parties and other sociable events are organised for the groups to come together at Christmas, Easter and Summer. Friends, family and carers are welcome to attend these. Workshops and visits from specialist facilitators are also scheduled into the programme on occasions.
