Mytime Active appointed preferred provider of Bromley Cardiac Rehabilitation and Exercise Service

Mytime Active has provided their Heart Smart cardiac rehabilitation and Fresh Start exercise referral programmes in the London Borough of Bromley since 2004, and has now been appointed preferred provider of Bromley Cardiac Rehabilitation and Exercise Referral Service for the next three years, starting in September 2019.

“The new contract will allow Mytime Active to continue to support people with a variety of long-term medical needs, ranging from heart conditions to mental health conditions. Improving participants’ health outcomes is at the heart of Mytime Active’s programmes and a priority for everyone in the team,”

-says Diane Friday, Active Lifestyles Programme Manager at Mytime Active.

The service includes a 12 session programme tailored by Physical Activity specialists to meet participants’ needs, as well as monthly interactive group workshops on topics including healthy eating, weight management, Managing Chronic Pain and Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) risk management.

Thanks to funding from Bromley Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), the service will be free to all participants who meet the eligibility criteria. For applicants who do not meet the criteria, Mytime Active offers a place on another of their health programmes.

Dr Jon Doyle, Bromley GP and clinical lead at NHS Bromley Clinical Commissioning Group said:

It’s a well- known fact that regular exercise and movement is good for our health – even more so for those with long term health conditions.

The cardiac rehabilitation service is aimed at those people who have had a heart attack or bypass surgery.  It helps them to get back on their feet and build up their strength through gentle and consistent exercise, so they can live as full a life as possible with their condition and reduce the risk of further problems. It is helping us to ensure that Bromley residents are able to live longer, healthier and happier lives”.

Mytime Active opens a new hub for exercise and self-referral patients

Mytime Active has recently launched the new Mind and Body Studio at the Spa, its award-winning leisure centre in Beckenham.

The Mind and Body Studio is a state-of-the-art holistic health and fitness suite, with specialist classes, equipment and personalised training programmes to help everyone set and reach their fitness goals. The studio also offers health consultation suites for Health Assessments, and ESCAPE-pain, our group-based programme to help manage osteoarthritis.

The new studio provides a warm, friendly environment for people who might not normally attend a gym or fitness classes. Offering ongoing support and an alternative to hospital treatment, the Mind and Body Studio is designed to be a ‘one-stop shop’ for those with long-term health conditions.

Mytime Active aims to help support even more people in the local community with these successful services.
