What’s great about being a member at Mytime Active?
Not only am I getting fitter, I am meeting different people from all walks of life and making some great friendships that will be there forever.
What’s your favourite activity?
My favourite activity is line dancing. I love the different music we dance to, it is good for the mind trying to remember all the steps, and I said to someone who asked why I love it so much, it gives me a buzz and makes me feel alive and happy.
What are your 2020 health goals?
My health goal for 2020 is to try and tone up a bit more. Although I’m not exceptionally big, I would like to lose some weight so I can fit into the clothes I used to wear years ago (yes I still have them, I am a hoarder of clothes)!
How long have you used Mytime Active for?
I have been a buddy since July 2010 but before that was already a member at Mytime Active. I used to work in Bromley and used to exercise in my lunch hour, not sure for how many years, as I did when I worked in London in my younger years, but still exercised in the gym in London.
What or who inspires your wellbeing hero?
My inspiration comes from our members. Jim, who’ll be 90 on January 17th still goes to The Pavilion’s gym to exercise. Pat who walks with a stick comes to line dancing and one of our newer ladies to line dancing, who started six months ago, wasn’t very well at the class on Wednesday and she told me that she had Parkinson’s.
These people all come into class with a smile on their face and just enjoy the session. That inspires me and I hope I will be like them. If you came to the Wednesday beginners line dance class at The Spa at Beckenham we have 60 people in the class and when the class finishes everyone leaves with a smile on their face, that gives me a really lovely feeling and would inspire anyone!

What’s great about being a member at Mytime Active?
There are so many positives to list in being a Mytime member. Alongside your personal fitness, you meet an abundance of people and friendly faces, allowing you to relax during workouts. I had always been shy about visiting the heavy weight sections as a newbie but now love visiting it to smile at friends and confidently ask for advice if I need it!
What’s your favourite activity?
I absolutely love the Saturday morning Body Attack classes. Sometimes reaching 40 or so people in the room, it's such an immersive way to burn calories before the weekend.
What are your 2020 health goals?
I'd like to involved myself more in the Mytime classes such as Body Step or Hit training as these are renowned! With this I can tone up looking towards the Summer of 2020.
How long have you used Mytime Active for?
Since 2016.
What or who inspires your wellbeing hero?
There are so many celebrities who could inspire me, but I'm actually more inspired by those around me in and around the Mytime Active Gym. A massive credit goes to David the PT who often gives advice and assistance out of his own time.

What’s great about being a member at Mytime Active?
I was diagnosed with high blood pressure in early 2012 and have never been able to manage it effectively... until now. Being a member at Mytime Active has opened up a new world for me. My blood pressure is at the lowest it has ever been since I was first diagnosed and, even though I still have some way to go, the exercises given to me by my trainer, coupled with the use of the eGym and the regular gym will enable me to achieve a normal blood pressure by January/February 2020.
What’s your favourite activity?
My favourite activity is using the eGym as it enables me to track my progress, re-asses my strength and weaknesses as well know the areas I need to work on.
What are your 2020 health goals?
My health goals for 2020 are, to achieve a body weight of 14 stones, becoming physically and mentally fit and to be able to reduce or eliminate the need for my blood pressure medication.
How long have you used Mytime Active for?
I was referred to the Fresh Start programme at Mytime Active in May 2019 and became a member in September 2019.
What or who inspires your wellbeing hero?
If I was to think of one person who inspires my wellbeing hero, it has to be the person looking back at me in the mirror. Through the highs and lows, all the gym time, aches and pains, it’s that person looking back at me who offers the greatest motivation.

What’s great about being a member at Mytime Active?
I like being a member of Mytime because of the fact that I can use all four of the gyms. There is a pretty diverse timetable, especially at The Spa. And I can usually find a class somewhere to suit my mood if I decide to do something last minute on a day.

Difficult to choose one activity. Any dance class (Zumba/Sosa/Flowetic) and yoga.

What’s great about being a member at Mytime Active?
I find Mytime Active important as we see a lot of single widows, couples or lonely people come to the gym as they say it gets them out the house. For some people it's their way of seeing people and maybe the only time they speak to people is at the gym.

Let exercise put a smile on my face.

What’s great about being a member at Mytime Active?
Being a member at Mytime Active is really great as I can take part in as many classes, gym sessions and swimming as I want to in several local venues of my choice and at one amazing all inclusive price, without being tied to an annual contract.
What’s your favourite activity?
I have a few favourite activities as I like to incorporate variety into my fitness regime. I love doing cardio work in the gym as it really feels productive. Swimming is another activity I enjoy. I’m not the best swimmer in the world but I do my best and enjoy what I do and its such a good all over workout. Another activity I enjoy is participating in is stretch classes in the studio. I think stretching is just as important as the exercising element of fitness as it really loosens up tight muscles and can help to relieve pain.
What are your 2020 health goals?
My health goals for 2020 is to really cement fitness into my everyday life. In turn I know this will lead to important weight loss goals for me and increased muscle strength which will help me to look and feel better and healthier.
How long have you used Mytime Active for?
I have used the leisure centres mostly for swimming on an occasional payg basis but as I wanted to become fitter and use more of the services on offer, it made sense for me to join the membership scheme.
What or who inspires your wellbeing hero?
Recent health issues have led me onto this health and fitness journey but if I were to name someone who has inspired me the most, I would have to say my trainer (Steffie) in the gym! She really understands all the issues surrounding exercise and has worked on programmes with me, adapting as necessary but pushing me to give the best I can and achieve my goals.
Meet Caryl
Caryl is one of our amazing Primetime Buddies.
What’s great about being a member at Mytime Active?
It is great being a member of Primetime because I get to meet such a lovely people.
It is especially good when I see someone who is so nervous about stepping through the door to begin classes and is very soon making friends and enjoying classes.
What’s your favourite activity?
Choosing my favourite activity is hard. I started off doing Aquafit as this had been on my “To do bucket list” when I retired 10 years ago. This was extremely helpful to me as it helped me control lymthodema in one of my legs. A while later I tried Strength and Stability. I love this class. Most of the attendees are older and have various health issues. Many are lonely and this class introduces a way of making friends. One attendee told me it saved her life to come to class and meet new people.
This year Instructor Ria encouraged me to try Zumba. I am the most uncoordinated person ever, so this was a challenge. But I now do Zumba twice a week and love it. Primetime has given me the confidence to try new things.
What are your 2020 health goals?
My 2020 aim is to keep going to maintain my level of physical fitness which also helps mentally as well.
