Bromley celebrates World Mental Health Day 2018

The theme of World Mental Health Day 2018, on Wednesday 12th October, was Young People’s Mental Health in a Changing World.

Bromley Lewisham & Greenwich Mind worked with Mytime Active to deliver a community event to mark this important day at Beckenham Public Halls. The event was designed to raise awareness of the local services and activities available to support young people to grow up happy, healthy and resilient.

“World Mental Health Day is the perfect opportunity to work in partnership with services, service users and local communities within the borough to create an event that is informative, entertaining and fun!”

The day included a busy schedule of performances, talks and workshops, as well as key information stands provided by key services within the borough.

Audiences across the day enjoyed performances from BAM (Bromley Arts Music), local community bands, the creative music project ArtsTrain and a school drama group.

A group of students from Charles Darwin School performed an honest and incisive drama piece touching on the themes of mental health. The event also offered a range of workshops including: creative writing, seated yoga, song writing, yoga for the mind, drama and singing.

The day’s programme of entertainment was complemented by talks and information stands from Bromley Y, The Churchill Theatre’s Creative Learning Team, Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust and many more.
