Mytime Active at the Scottish Sports Awards

Mytime Active’s Healthy Powerful Communities project was a finalist in the Scottish Sports Awards, which recognise excellence throughout Scottish sports.

Adele Piper attended the awards ceremony in Edinburgh hosted by Legacy 2014 Scottish Government, rubbing shoulders with Paralympic silver medallist Scott Quin. Among the other attendees were First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, Katherine Grainger CBE, and Andy Murray’s grandparents.

The nomination was both a fantastic achievement by the team and a great opportunity to showcase the work done by our delivery partners in Scotland including East Ayrshire Council, Scottish Sports Futures, NHS Tayside and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

The Big Lottery-funded Healthy Powerful Communities empowers families to live fitter, healthier happier lives, giving people sustainable skills to tackle obesity.

One mum, who lost two stone, said:

The exercise and diet guidance really helped at a time when I was not eating properly at all.

It made me make time for myself to prepare meals and do a little exercise here and there and not make it a chore.

Having a newborn is stressful enough but the girls showed us ways to incorporate both into our daily routine which made a big difference.

I have now changed my eating habits completely and my weight/bmi have definitely improved as a result.
