Seriously Social Day 5 - Developing musical talent with ArtsTrain
ArtsTrain and Mytime Active
ArtsTrain is an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) managed by Mytime Active. Aimed at young people aged 11-25, ArtsTrain deliver creative music workshops in schools and the community. Supported by a team of Industry professionals, our young people create new, original music in safe, inclusive and inspiring settings.
Since 2008, we have helped young people from a variety of backgrounds, including those facing challenging circumstances, to transform the musical landscape within the London Boroughs of Bromley and Bexley.
Not only have our projects provided thousands of young people with opportunities that have progressed their creative careers, they’re also proven to develop young people’s sense of agency and wellbeing.
Feedback from our 25/26 programme:
- 82% of participants strongly agreed or agreed they had increased their creativity
- 80% of participants strongly agreed or agreed they had increased their musical skills and knowledge
- 83% strongly agreed or agreed they had increased their confidence and motivation
- 84% strongly agreed or agreed they had increased their collaboration and social skills

Feedback from the CEO of Active Horizons:
“ArtsTrain gives young people a chance to develop their skills and something positive to do - it gets them off the streets. It also boosts their confidence, and improves their social skills – enables young people to come out of their shells using creativity.” (CEO / Founder - Active Horizons)

“So much of their lives are spent online so the opportunity to come in person and do something like this and connect with other people is really important.” (Youth Manager, Crystal Palace Trust)
