Cray Valley Golf Club elects first woman president

Cray Valley Golf Club, based at Mytime Active’s Orpington Golf Centre, has become one of a handful of UK clubs to elect a woman as their president.

A former Lady Captain, Theresa Sibbett has also held the roles of Ladies’ Treasurer and Membership Secretary for the Gents’ Section. She was nominated by all four sections of the club and elected unopposed.

Theresa started playing golf when her husband John joined the Cray Valley Seniors Section on his retirement, as a way of spending more time with him. She threw herself into the challenge of learning a new sport in the beautiful surroundings of the Cray Valley 18-hole course, and made new friends at the club.

As well as golf at any of our 16 courses nationwide, Theresa’s Mytime Active membership lets her enjoy swimming, Pilates and fitness boot camp at her local leisure centre, and playing FootGolf with her two grandsons thanks to the two free junior memberships offered to full members.

Cray Valley is a friendly club, with regular competitions held by the Gents, Seniors and Ladies, both internally and against other clubs. A thriving nine-hole club plays on the separate short course. During her time as president, Theresa aims to bring the whole club together for both golfing and social events.
