Healthy and tasty smoothie recipes

We know it can be hard to eat well when you’re leading a busy lifestyle. Smoothies offer a simple and easy way for you to eat fruit and veg while you’re on the go. There are lots of affordable devices to help you create a range of delicious smoothies at home too.

Here’s three of our favourite, easy healthy smoothie ideas for you to try and make at home.

Apple-kale smoothie
Prep time: 5 mins
Serves: 1
Ingredients: 1/2 banana chopped, 3/4 cup chopped kale (remove thick stems/ribs), 1 small stalk celery chopped, 1/2 cup apple juice, 1/2 cup ice & 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice


Kale, apple and banana contain a number of vitamins and fibre, which helps to keep you full for longer by managing your blood sugar levels. Kale is a good source of Iron for vegetarians/vegans. Simply place everything into your blender and hit the button!

Raspberry and nut smoothie
Prep time: 5 mins
Serves: 1
Ingredients: 1/2 banana chopped, 3/4 cup frozen raspberries, ¾ cup of semi-skimmed milk, I tablespoon of agave syrup (or honey) & 1 tablespoon of almond butter

Nut butter is an easy way to add protein into your busy day, especially post-workout. Almonds also contain fibre and lots of other vital nutrients, such as Vitamin E, B2, Copper, Manganese and Magnesium. This is by far one of the quickest smoothies you can make! All you need to do is blend the above ingredients together until you have a frothy consistency.


Banana and cashew smoothie
Prep time: 5 mins to blend, 6 hours/overnight to soak the cashews
Serves: 1
Ingredients: 1/2 banana chopped, 1/4 cup raw unsalted cashews, 1 cup ice & 1 tablespoon of maple syrup (pure)


This deliciously sweet yet nutty smoothie will feel as if you’re enjoying a dessert! Bananas contain potassium, which helps with blood pressure and heart health. Cashews contain protein, iron and calcium. You need to soak the cashews overnight, so place them in ½ cup of water, cover and leave in the fridge - keep things simple by using the blender bowl. In the morning, the cashews will have softened and then simply add banana, ice and the maple syrup – and blend!
