The Positive Impact of Golf on Mental Health

This Mental Health Awareness Week we completely back the sentiments of Golf Hipster (Kieran Hall) from this inspiring video in created by England Golf. As Kieran says golf provides not only social benefits but also realy helps with your mental health. See the video in the LinkedIn post below.

"After a bad day at work, the best place for me is the golf course."

Here are just some of the reasons why golf is the perfect activity to help your mental health:

  • Fresh air - getting outside and experiencing nature calms the mind and soul. Every golf course offers a unique outside world to explore, just try and admire the heavy rough and trees from a distance.
  • Excercise - keeping fit physically puts us in the best position to keep us mentally healthy. What better way to get the body moving than a beautiful walk hitting balls for a few hours.
  • Time alone - sometimes we just need some space. Playing golf alone, practicing or just enjoying a bit of head space, is a great way to spend some time and work on your mental health.
  • Time with friends - the value of socialising with friends is huge. Either through talking through your worries with them or a buddy cracking a joke and taking your mind off things. Also, if you are playing on your own don't be afraid to ask another lone player to play alongside with you.

So come and hit a few balls and relieve some stress. We're sure you'll recognise benefits to your mental health as soon as you take that first swing.
