UK government releases new physical activity guidelines

New guidelines from the UK Chief Medical Officers highlight the importance of strength training as part of physical activity for adults.

Adults should take part in strength-based exercise at least twice a week. Working on strength and balance can help maintain healthy muscles as the body ages, and lower the risk of falling for older adults.

Mytime Active offers strength training for people of all ages and abilities, including state of the art eGym equipment in the new Mind and Body Studio at the Spa at Beckenham for a personalised workout, and our TARGET30: STRENGTH class.

The guidelines also offer advice for pregnant women and new mothers, and for children under five. Exercise during and after pregnancy, following the advice of a medical professional, can help regain strength and ease back pain. Young children benefit from bonding time, as well as active play.

Find Me and My Baby activities for pregnant women, new parents, babies and toddlers to enjoy together. For more fun ways to get children moving, try a family swim or one of our Buzz Zone soft play areas.
