Why Hot Yoga?

It makes you more flexible

Hot temperatures and high humidity make your muscles more pliable and make it easier for your muscles to stretch. This means you can increase your muscles range of motion and stretch deeper within each pose.

It is a cardio workout

To help your body manage the heat and therefore keep your skin cool you will experience an increased heart rate compared to traditional Yoga. This means you get a good workout while working on your flex. Any exercise that increases your heart rate will increase your calorie burn.

It can reduce your stress and increase lung capacity

Yoga practise focuses on your breathing technique. Deeper breathing in hot surroundings, helps you to relax, relieve stress, whilst also increasing the amount of oxygen in your blood.

Tips before hot yoga

Drink lots of water - before, after, and during your class!

In a hot class, hydration is important. It is best to hydrate before and after the practice to prepare and replenish the water you lose. Water with electrolytes can also aide recovery as electrolytes are lost when you sweat.

Don't come to a class on an empty stomach.

We recommend having a small snack beforehand, such as a banana. Try to avoid eating big meals before your class too.

Talk to our expert instructors

Exercising in a hot environment can cause you to feel unwell. Our instructors are there to help you so let your instructor know if you start to feel dizzy or weak or nauseous during the class. Speak to your instructor before the class to raise any health concerns. If you are unsure about whether you can practice hot yoga, check with your doctor before attending.

Pace yourself

If it's your first time doing hot yoga, ease yourself into it, and don't do too much at once. We recommend starting with one class per week, alongside other physical activity, to feel the benefits.
