MEND empowers children and adults to become fitter, healthier and happier and to reach or maintain a healthier weight. It's free to attend and run by local teams in local communities, after school or at weekends.
For all children aged 2 to 4 and their parents or carers. MEND 2-4 shows parents creative ways to get children tasting and enjoying different fruits, vegetables and other healthy snacks, and taking part in active play. We cover fussy eating, portion sizes, positive parenting and lots of other topics.
Each week, children enjoy crèche-style activities while the adults take part in group discussions. Parents play with their children and everyone has fun together.
Parent discussion groups and family workshops covering healthy eating, nutrition, active play and more, for children aged 5 to 7 and their parents or carers. In some areas this programme is universal and in others it is for children above a healthy weight.
Helping 7- to 13-year-olds who are above a healthy weight and their parents or carers to make healthy choices and behaviour changes as a family. An hour-long workshop is followed by a group discussion for the adults and physical activities for the children.
A friendly, safe and non-judgmental environment for 13- to 16-year-olds who are above a healthy weight and their parents or carers to learn about choosing healthier foods and getting active.
Designed for post natal women with a baby up to 2 years, MEND Mums is a fun and interactive weight management programme incorporating energy boosting workouts and great nutrition tips to help establish healthy habits for life.
